Meet Kait, our Marketing Associate.
We asked Kait a couple of questions to help you get to know her a little better:
Why did you decide a career in construction was for you?
I was intrigued by an industry that has historically been male dominated. In my eyes it has always been home, I remember going to work with my dad when I was little (he worked for Consolidated at the time) and playing in the warehouse with all the different colored electrical tape. It intrigued me that something I considered home wasn’t perceived that way by other women.
What were your biggest fears when you started out?
Definitely knowing nothing about the industry. I’m surrounded by men and women who hold certifications, degrees or years of experience in some aspect of construction as it relates to their jobs. But I’m lucky enough that those same people will take 5 minutes out of their busy schedules to explain things to me.
What is your favorite part about working for Haynes Group?
The people. I genuinely love everyone I work with. Whether you’re struggling with something at work or personally, or something great happened to you or a family member, our teammates are always there to listen and support you.
What advice would you give another woman looking to start her career in the construction industry?
I’d tell her to be authentic and to be confident in herself and her abilities. Get out there and show the industry why you’re a force to be reckoned with.
